Pollard willows in a storm

Voy Kay 22 Apr 2020

Decided this morning at first to paint Moais but after some consideration/hesitation, I wanted to paint pollard willows in a kind of rough weather. On purpose, I left the sky less turbulent to draw more attention to the trees and the ground foliage.
Canvas used was a high quality 12"x16" and prepared with liquid white. The latter was a bit of an error since liquid clear would have given me harder colours, more suitable for this atmosphere. Limited colours were used and this was done in just under one hour, of which half needed for the scriptliner's magic.
Hope you will enjoy this!!

I must say that the red and white highlights hardly show on the picture, else my tree trunks and branches would be far more outstanding.

Beautiful painting Voy! Your trees are superb! Colors are amazing with liquid white as trees are more contrasting against whitened colors.

Hmmmm, haven't thought of it that way. You are right, the contrast with the tree is thus better with the liquid white. Okay, I will love it now!!
Thanks Sunnylady!!!!

I quite like it. A 'hold on to your hat' kind of day. I love the colors.

Thank you Froggie! I am very fond myself of such skies, they are more or less easy to do and always with breathtaking results!

Beautiful color and beautiful trees ,this is really excellent work!

Dear Jin, I missed you with this one!! Smiling here now!
Thanks for the cheers my friend, I so much like the speculation of very heavy wind (typhoon!) in this painting. The colour was not too bad, but with liquid clear it could have been better.
Possibly I will try something similar still this year, and then I will use liquid clear.
Till next one!
